TEACHERS' TRAINING

UNDP data show that only 15% of primary school teachers in Madagascar are trained to teach (UNDP, 2017). Most teachers, in fact, never attended a pedagogical school. This fact, together with the lack of books and didactic materials, is at the roots of the extremely low quality of education in Madagascar.

In our effort to increase the quality of education, we financed a twelve-weeks teachers training course for all the teachers of the Mamiko school in Djangoa (from kindergarten to secondary), held by a professor of the Institut Supérieur Pédagogique d'Antananarivo (ISPA).

The first part of the training course took place in December 2019. After a long interruption due to the COVID-19 crisis and consequent lockdown, the second part of the course finally took place in September 2021. All the teachers expressed great motivation and enthusiasm for the opportunity they were offered!
